Steph’s journey into hairdressing started in 2021 — but her passion goes way back to the days of cutting and styling her Barbies’ hair. It wasn’t just child’s play — it was a sign of what was to come.
She initially started on a different course, but quickly realised it wasn’t for her. A lucky opportunity to switch onto a hairdressing course became the turning point. That moment sparked the realisation: this was her path — hair could be her way through life.
At just 15, during her first year of Level 1 Hairdressing, Steph gained work experience at her childhood salon, Shape Hair and Beauty. Her passion and potential stood out so much that she was offered a Saturday job — a huge milestone that marked the beginning of her hands-on journey in the industry.
Steph moved on to complete her Level 2 in Hairdressing at college with flying colours — earning overall distinctions and excelling in every aspect of the course. Despite not having the required GCSEs, she proved her determination and skill, earning her rightful place on the Level 3 course. And she didn’t just pass — she smashed it.
Now fully qualified with a Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing, Steph has also been recognised with awards like:
- Best Client Service
- Most Chattiest
- Best Colourist
Never one to stop learning, Steph went on to complete a private course in hair extensions, training in Nanos, Tapes, and Micros — adding even more strings to her styling bow.
And in true Steph fashion, she had a “early midlife crisis” moment and decided to take a leap into the beauty world too — now currently studying Level 2 Beauty to expand her skills even further.
Steph’s talents don’t stop with adults — she’s amazing with kids too. Thanks to years of practice with family and friends, she knows how to keep little ones happy in the chair without missing a beat.
From Barbie haircuts to real-life transformations, Steph’s journey is proof that when passion meets perseverance, amazing things happen.
Personal paragraph – If you told little me — sat on the floor cutting Barbie’s hair with plastic scissors — that one day I’d be fully qualified, winning awards, and working in the salon I grew up going to… I probably would’ve just smiled and carried on cutting! But honestly, I’m so proud of how far I’ve come.
There’ve been moments of doubt and detours (and yes, a bit of a midlife crisis ), but every step has brought me closer to doing what I love every day. I’ve met amazing clients, learned from the best, and found my place in an industry that constantly inspires me.
Whether it’s colouring, styling, extensions, or simply making someone feel good in their own skin — I’m all in. And this is just the beginning
